It’s #DisciplinedDecember and it’s finta’ be a @SaladJam party all month! Prepped and washed my lettuce for the week so it’s easy to grab and go! Tip: To avoid soggy lettuce, place a dry paper towel inside the bowl on top of your lettuce. It will absorb any moisture that accumulates inside the container. (P.S. Visit saladjam. com to sign up for the new-and-improved January #SaladJam Challenge and blog launch newsletter! SO excited!)
Throughout #DisciplinedDecember, I’ll be using this book to guide my Bible study on discipline. I purchased it on eBay for $9 and it’s one of my all-time favorite Christian resources. Everything worth achieving in life requires some degree of discipline and God is central to developing this trait in our lives.
Here’s the book recap from Barnes & Noble:
Celebration of Discipline explores the “classic Disciplines,” or central spiritual practices, of the Christian faith. Along the way, Foster shows that it is only by and through these practices that the true path to spiritual growth can be found.
Dividing the Disciplines into three movements of the Spirit, Foster shows how each of these areas contribute to a balanced spiritual life. The inward Disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study, offer avenues of personal examination and change. The outward Disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission, and service, help prepare us to make the world a better place. The corporate Disciplines of confession, worship, guidance, and celebration, bring us nearer to one another and to God.
Hello December! Thinking about 2013 coming to an end has me in awe. As I #mapmymonth today, I’m declaring it #DisciplinedDecember! I’ll be honest—this Thanksgiving weekend, I ate what I wanted, slept when I wanted and spent what I wanted. It was great to unwind but I’m so ready to get back on track. This month, I refuse to let holiday treats, holiday shopping and holiday stress thwart my long-term goals. In #DisciplinedDecember, I’m asking God to help me guard against the tests that tend to come this time of the year. Join me! There’s no need to wait until January 1. Let’s start now! Share how you’re staying focused using the hashtag #DisciplinedDecember, whether it’s making a holiday spending budget, going for a run despite the cold weather, or bringing a healthy dish to the office potluck. I’ll be praying for each of you who post and I kindly ask that we all do the same. Staying disciplined is HARD sometimes, but there is power in our collective efforts and prayers! Here’s to staying steadfast this month and ending 2013 feeling fired up, focused and disciplined! 💜 “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11.💜 Love y’all! 😘
My favorite protein shake recipe! Vanilla almond milk (I alternate between sweetened and unsweetened depending on my workout schedule), Plant Fusion protein powder and raw cocoa powder. Add ice and blend. Delish! Tastes like a milkshake but so much healthier for you! Tip: Make sure you check the labels and Google your protein powders. Some of them have lead and all kinds of yucky stuff. Also, many powders have been recalled in recent years. Plant Fusion is vegan and all natural. Got it from Whole Foods!
Late night in the salad factory taking pics for the @SaladJam blog launching January 1! This beauty is made with green leaf lettuce, baby arugula, shredded pecorino cheese, corn, black pepper, pink Himalayan sea salt and carrot pulp left over from my fresh carrot juice this morning. No veggie left behind! 😉 #SaladJam!
